New Zealand schools ban Crocs, Jibbitz due to scraps in the playground

Schools in West Auckland and South island have unfortunately banned crocs due to the issues Jibbitz have been causing. Letters have been sent to parents letting them know Jibbitz have been causing too many issues that have led up to scraps during lunchtime. Jibbitz are little charms that are attached to crocs used as decoration. Students have been trading Jibbitz during lunchtime and students have been losing Jibbitz because of school thiefs. Crocs have also been causing injuries which aren’t safe to wear at school, about 15 foot injuries and eight ankle injuries have been recorded. They are hazards to kids and often do not fit well and are clumsy.

Wordfind: Islands in Tonga

Today during Cybersmart, our task/challenge was to make our own word search about a topic we really know about. My Topic is related to Islands in Tonga. My challenge for you is to try find all seven Islands. If you are from Tonga, which Island are you from?

Google Meet Etiquette

Today during cybersmart I learnt many ways on how to have be etiquette on Google meet and reasons why. I also learnt that having your camera off is disrespectful because it basically means a teacher talking to your back, that’s why it’s good to have your camera on. The image above shows many ways to be etiquette on Google Meet.

Internet Permanence

Today during cybersmart we talked about internet permanence, this might not feel believable but many celebrities have been through this and it is tough. Internet permanence talks about accounts, posts and more things that you’ve deleted on your side of the screen but in other peoples side of the screen it still shows everything either way.

What we share online

Today with cybersmart we were discussing what we think we should share online. The reason why we did this because whatever you put online it can be inappropriate or private but some things can just be public. On my slideshow are some examples.

Cultural Day At Glen Innes School

31st of March 2023, a day full of happiness, memories and embarrassment.

Our school, Glen Innes School, had a cultural day like every other year, but this one was the most important one because it was my last performance, so I had to make the most of it.

Everyone was so happy to rep their culture, especially me that I had to go to the bathroom 100 times because I was, so nervous. At 12:05 it was time to go and change into our beautiful costumes so we could all look good while performing.

After a few minutes we were already looking pretty so Ms Tu’akoi told us to go and wait, right beside the bathroom. When we were all settled, Mele and Ezekiel, our hosts, greeted us and introduced themselves before they started calling groups up.

First up was the Kapa Haka group because they were welcoming everyone and also closing up. Everyone made mistakes but at the end of the day they performed and it was amazing. When I was performing it was so nerve wrecking because I didn’t really know the actions, but it was great to be out there.

All groups were amazing and talented but my favourite was the Tongan boys because they gave it their all and they’ve been sacrificing everything just to get their dance ready.

My Ideal Holiday

Have you ever been to Dubai?, well if you have then you’re one lucky person. Dubai has always been my dream vacation destination but I’ve never had the chance to visit, hopefully I will one day.

If I had the chance to go, the first place I’d visit is the humongous ferris wheel with a friend. I really want to go on the ferris wheel because I’ve never been on one and also I want to see what it’s like being so high and also the view up there.

Another place I would love to visit in Dubai is The Dubai Fountain. Some people might think it’s a normal fountain but it shoots up to the sky, almost touching the clouds.

There is also a massive mall that goes 4 stories up with an aquarium inside, can you believe that. It might be tiring walking around but I think it’s worth it and interesting.

Lastly before I leave I would love to see the miracle garden, It has some really insane art made out of flowers. I guess they turned the impossibles to the possibles.

One day I really hope I visit Dubai and visit all the amazing places with a friend. Not only that I also want to tick it off my bucket list.

Athletics Day

On the 16th of November, it was the time of the year, actually the best time of the year where the whole school has athletics. I was so excited because I wanted to see if all the practising was worth it. The event I was looking forward to was the fun event where we did 3 sticks, tug of war and gumboot throwing. I was so proud that I came 1st in the gumboot throwing and room 9 came 2nd in Tug Of War. Our other   events were the most exhausting events. It was the 800 metre run, 100 metre sprint, 75 metre sprint, 50 metre sprint and relays. When I got home and looked in the mirror I was as dark as a gorilla and that’s because I didn’t bring sunscreen. Overall I had a fun and exhausting day, I hope we do it again next year.
